Pre-Production Quality Inspection

Pre-production inspection takes place either before production starts (usually to check inputs) or at the very beginning of the final assembly.

What is checked during a pre-production inspection?

The following are some of the most common things that a pre-production inspection covers:

  • The Materials/Components:

    • Suppliers would often compete to offer you the lowest cost possible in order to attract you as customers- this might potentially result in the use of low-quality and cheap materials which may be restricted in your country. In order to make sure that all the materials used in the products are up-to mark and do not violate any laws in your country, the inspector can draw a few samples at random and send them to a testing laboratory.
    • The inspector can also verify the colors, sizes, weights, etc of your products to make sure that they are in accordance with your specifications.
  • A Prototype
    • In the case of some products, sending a sample product might not be feasible- for example, sending a sample of large furniture is quite expensive. In such a case, you can send in an inspector to check the product and send you photos, so that you can validate it as a reference for production without wasting time and money.
  • The Processes Of Mass Production
    •  You may have certain requirements about the way the manner in which you wish the supplier to go about producing your product. The inspector can help verify that the production techniques employed by the supplier are in accordance with what you have asked for.

During Production Quality Inspection

DUPRO is  the during process inspection that is ideal for:

  • Large quantity shipments
  • product lines with continuous production
  • Shipments that have strict requirements for on-time shipments
  • Follow-up in case of the pre-production inspection results was found to be unsatisfactory

ATI will inspect the production batch and examine products in the line for possible defects, normally when 10-15% of the merchandise is completed. We will identify if there are any deviations, and offer advice on corrective measures and re-check any defects during Pre-Production Inspection to confirm they have been rectified.

Our qualified inspectors are present to produce a detailed inspection report, along with a photographic record, that allows you to stay constantly updated regarding each stage of the production cycle. We have a global network of inspectors and can arrange your inspection within a matter of days after receiving your request.

The main aspects that are examined during an initial production inspection include the following:

  • Evaluation of the production capacity and equipment in the factory, providing the estimated cargo ready date to the client for reference.
  • Checking that the quality control system employed the factory is up-to mark and able to meet with your quality expectations in an efficient manner.
  • The audit production techniques to make sure that all quality control measures are in accordance with expectations.
  • Checking the quality and quantity of the raw material and main components that will be used in the products, in order to foresee any possible problem and remind the factory accordingly, verifying the client’s requirement and product specification are being met early.

Pre-Shipment/Final Random Inspection

Pre-Shipment inspection is a step taken by trade operators (buyers, suppliers, agencies) to inspect newly manufactured products before they are shipped for export/import.

The purposes of a pre-shipment inspection are to:

  • Check the quantity and quality of the merchandise.
  • Check products for any defects.
  • Ensure products meet the safety requirements of the destination market.
  • Issue report for import and billing.

Not to mention the poor image that builds in your customer’s mind if you sell them products that are of poor quality or do not meet the specifications or requirements as promised by you.

In case any defects are discovered in products during the pre-shipment inspection, they can be fixed by the supplier before the products are sent out to you. Compare this to the cost of having the defected products shipped to you, and then having to repair or rework them at your own expense.
